Description:
Very much like the Link to Image action, Page Colour is a simple action in response to a request from a FreewayActions.com user.

Quite simply it allows you to easily change the current page's background colour simply by rolling over or clicking on either a text or image link.

Example:
Try rolling over and clicking the image and text links below.

bluebox blue

(Some of the images on this page really look awful when the page colour is changed. This is mainly down to the fact that they have been anti-aliased against white rather than the new page colour. This is something to keep in mind when using this action.)

Adding the action to your pages:
Page Colour is both an item action (so it can be applied to images) and an inline action. Applying the action to a specific image is quite simple. Simply follow the ' Applying Item Actions ' guidelines.
To use the inline action to create a text link follow the ' Applying Inline Actions ' guidelines.

Using the action:
Once applied to a thumbnail image all of the settings relating to the action can be viewed and set from the Link to Image tab in the Actions palette. If the palette is not visible simply select Actions from the Window menu and the palette will open (figure 2.1).

The Activate check box (item4a) is something that you will find in a lot of these actions as it allows action code to be disabled without needing to be removed from the item which would, in turn, lose any of the user settings applied to it. It allows users to quickly add and remove action functionality very quickly and easily.

Below the Activate check box are the controls for selecting the linked image as well as setting for the link itself.

The Link text input (item5a1) is only required for text links so you won't see it on the action you will attach to images. Use it to specify the text that forms the link.

The Mouse over (item6a1) and On click (item6a1a) sections are identical. Both allow a colour to be selected (item7a1 and item6) when the mouse either moves over or clicks the link item in question.
The Restore checkboxes (item7 and item8) allow the page colour to be reset should the link be rolled out of (in the case of the Mouse over links) or clicked again (for the On click) links.

Requirements:
To add Page Colour functionality to your web pages you will need Freeway 3.1 or higher.

Browser compatibility:
Page Colour produces code that requires a browser capable of running JavaScript.
