Description: One of Freeway's greatest strengths is it's ability to maintain a detailed internal reference of all of the items in the current document that need to be updated when an item is created, modified or deleted. This can include creating and deleting images as well as links. Unfortunately there are times when changing a page name will unnecessarily mark linked pages as 'dirty' and in need of republishing and upload. Re-title page will allow pages to be renamed via 'the back door' in that the application is ignorant to the fact that the page is being renamed and therefore any linked pages are left untouched. Using the action can save considerable time in the application unnecessarily republishing and uploading pages.
What's new in version 1.1? This revision allows the existing page title to be incorporated into the newly generated title by simply inserting a 'marker' ([t]) into the text. All of the pages on this site, for example, have had their title's redefined as "FreewayActions.com | [t]" which will generate (for this page) "FreewayActions.com | Re-title Page".
Adding the action to your pages: To add this action to your Freeway pages follow the '
Applying Page Actions
' guidelines.
Using the action: Using the action is very easy. In the Actions palette you will see that the action has just two interface controls (figure 1.2). Use Activate to turn the action on and off. By using this control it is possible to enable and disable the action without the need to remove it from the current page or item first. As you would expect with the check box off your code is left untouched. With Activate checked simply enter the new name of the page in the Title field and you are done. It really is that simple!
