So you've downloaded all of the actions you can get your hands on but don't know what to do with them? Installing actions to work with Freeway is very easy. Here's how.
Depending on what version of the application you are running actions need to be stored in slightly different places. Simply select your version of Freeway to see the instructions that relate to your version of the application.
Freeway 2.x to FreewayPro 3.5.x
- In the same folder as the Freeway application itself you should find a folder called Freeway Actions.
- If this doesn't exist for whatever reason first check to see if it exists somewhere else as it may have been moved by mistake. If it's been renamed then change its name back to Freeway Actions.
- Any actions you collect on your travels can live in this folder and will work quite happily. However it's best to keep things tidy (at least to start with!) so let's create another folder inside Freeway Actions called FreewayActions.com. You can call this what you want really as it's ultimately up to you but let's pretend (just for now) that you'll call it FreewayActions.com
Now when you download any actions from this site you can pop them in the FreewayActions.com folder and keep them all in one handy location.
FreewayPro 4, 5 or 5.5 (or above)
Actions for FreewayPro 4 or above can be installed in a number of different ways.
Note: If you are having problems installing older actions with FreewayPro 4 or above then there is a good chance you'll need to alter the action file's type or extension. Try adding the file extension .fwaction and setting the file's type to TEXT. If you are unsure how to do this then try our simple AppleScript droplet.
Simply drop action files (or folders of actions) onto the script tool to batch convert them into the correct type.
Installing Actions on Mac OS X 10.7 (Lion)
Mac OS X 10.7 (Lion) hides the Library folder from view making adding, editing or removing Actions tricky.
Download the AppleScript below, run it and when the Actions folder appears drag the folder icon to either the toolbar or places section of the window to keep it handy for future use.
Simply run this script to display the Actions folder.
